Don has been driving, racing, and restoring muscle cars since he obtained his drivers license at age 16 in Norfolk, Virginia. After moving to California with his wife in the early 1980s, Don opened Hodges Racing, a professional restoration facility in Clovis, California. From the 1970s through early 2000s', Don owned and operated Hodges Racing, competed in and judged car shows, as well as participated in many Ford Racing & Shelby Club events and race days throughout the Western United States. In 2004, Don sold his 1969 Parnelli Jones Boss 302 Trans Am Mustang (#15) at the Russo and Steele Vintage Car Auction in Monterey, California, shattering the previous world's record for the highest priced Mustang.

When not behind the wheel or judging a car show, Don was found in a lab processing fingerprints for such agencies as the California State Department of Justice, local Public Defender's Office, Army Intelligence, and other Federal and State agencies. In 2009, Don accepted his first Deployment to Afghanistan as a latent print examiner. Before retiring in 2023, Don had travel around the world several times teaching many different foreign agencies how to process
latent fingerprint and cellphone history cracking.

Don continues to attend car shows and races throughout the United States. In 2025 Don will be showing his Holman Moody 1965 Mustang A/S Coupe on the vintage muscle car show circuit and in vintage racing events. Don currently appraises all classes of vehicles and provides expert witness testimony for court cases and trials. Additionally, Don provides automotive ADR judging services around the United States.
